Have you ever seen an ad for a guitar accessory that, at the bottom, warns that you should not actually clip this clip-on tuner to your guitar?
The Snark ST-2 ad (if you scroll down and look at the bottom of the description) includes this warning –
NOTE: Snark advises not to use this tuner with instruments having these types of finishes: nitrocellulose lacquer, polyurethane, French polish, or oil finish
While this ad does give hints that you may not want to clip it on your actual guitar –

.. it doesn’t give the warning until the very last bullet point. And I saw an ad for a two-pack of ST-2 tuners that did not include the warning note.

Let’s hope they change the ad to make it clear that this is made to clip onto music stands, not instruments. But then you have to wonder why they included this bullet point:
